Which Marketplace items are most helpful to a startup who needs to set up an online craft store? That’s the first of four challenges we’ve put to our authors. Read on to explore a collection handpicked by eCommerce guru and author, GravityDept, plus a collection of 10 essential items for any startup launching a blog or eCommerce website.

If you’re trying to get a startup off the ground, you have more than enough to think about. By purchasing ready-made solutions from the Envato Marketplaces, you can free yourself up to focus on what’s really important. But sifting through over four million items is no easy task! So we’ve asked our top authors—who have an extensive familiarity of what we have available—to give you a hand.

In this four-part series, we’ve given them some scenarios that a typical startup is likely to face, and asked them recommend the items that would be most helpful. Here’s the first one…

Jane and Carla are mums with young families. They design and make their own handcrafted dinnerware, pottery and kitchen accessories.

Following a series of successful months at local designer and craft markets, they have recently started selling on Facebook and eBay. Sales are growing organically through word-of-mouth and Facebook.

They have a very basic Shopify website, and are planning to expand the business—go to trade shows, expand production and their product line. They wonder if there is a more effective eCommerce option, and ask for your advice.

Brendan Falkowski (GravityDept) is a ThemeForest author who specializes in Magento eCommerce frontend design and development. He recently took time out of his busy schedule (as he was preparing to leave to give a talk on eCommerce in Sweden), and created this awesome collection: Selling Online.

Here’s a handful of items from his collection:

Thanks Brendon and Saijo. Are you up to the challenge? Which Marketplace items would you recommend to Jane and Carla? Create a collection and share the link in the comments.

The initiative was started by author myjilson, who has run the Envato Yearbook Signature for the last few years. Each year on Envato’s birthday, he provides a background and encourages authors to sign it with their usernames and/or logos. The result is a colorful scrapbook of all the participants signatures!

The yearbook is not just important for the community, staff love it too! Here are our product managers sitting proudly with a copy of this year’s community yearbook.

We want to say a huge thank you to those who participated in the yearbook this year, and a special shout out to myjilson for all his hard work in bringing this together! As you can see from the smiles on their faces, the staff loved seeing all your signatures.

Take a good look at this year’s and see how many signatures you recognise. You can also check out official yearbook thread here.
